Capri, Italy.

Sometimes the best trips are the ones you don’t plan months in advance — the ones where a quick decision turns into a weekend you didn’t know you needed. That was our trip to Capri: a short, sun-soaked escape to meet my uncle and sister while they were visiting Italy.

There’s something almost surreal about hopping over to another country almost on a whim. One minute you’re sipping coffee in Berlin, the next you’re stepping off a ferry onto the sparkling island of Capri. The air smells different, the light hits differently, and even the sound of the waves seems to have a Mediterranean accent.

We spent the days doing very little, and it was perfect. Laying in the sun, letting the water lap around our ankles, and floating just long enough to forget what day it was. There’s a quiet joy in doing nothing but breathing in the sea, especially when you get to do it with people you love.

The best moments, of course, came from simple gestures: hugging my uncle on the dock, wandering narrow streets with my sister, sharing gelato and laughter as the sun hit the cliffs just right. Capri is beautiful, but it’s the people you’re with that make it unforgettable.

Short trips like this remind you why travel is so good for the soul — not because of big plans or checklists, but because of quiet moments, small adventures, and the chance to be present with the people who matter most.

Capri gave us sun, sea, and family hugs. Not a bad weekend at all.
